(Kadal ochukal ) - Sea slugs

Sea slugs are another type of creature found on coastal rocky reefs. They have been extensively documented on the coastal reefs near Varkala and the 'Kandam Thinni' reef near Kappil; their abundance in these areas may be attributed to the fact that these reefs are composed of laterite rock. Unlike common land snails, these creatures lack a hard outer shell and are visually striking. FML has captured numerous videos of them grazing on the reefs during the day. A shelled sea slug was once discovered at Vizhinjam, and FML has also documented sea slug eggs on the rocky reefs. There is another variety of snail that travels while sheltering beneath drifting seaweed; it has been observed that they lay their eggs on that very same seaweed.
