കടൽപ്പണി സമൂഹത്തിന് ഈ ജീവിയെ പറ്റിയും വലിയ ധാരണ ഒന്നുമില്ല.
കടലിലെ പാറകളിലും മറ്റും പറ്റിവളരുന്ന സൂക്ഷ്മജീവികളുടെ കൂട്ടം ആണിവ. സൂക്ഷ്മ നിരീക്ഷണത്തിൽ ഇവ തേനീച്ച കൂടു പോലെ അറകൾ ചേർന്ന് രൂപപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതായി കാണാം.
പെരുമാക്കല്ല്, മുല്ലൂർ, വിഴിഞ്ഞം,കോവളം എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ ഇവയെ ഡോക്കുമെന്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചിപ്പിത്തോടുകളിലും മറ്റ് പാഴ് വസ്തുക്കളിലും വരെ ഇവ വളരുന്നു. വെട്ടുകൽ പാരുകളിൽ ഇവയുടെ സാന്നിധ്യം തീരെ കുറവാണ്.

Bryozoans

The marine community does not have much awareness regarding this organism.These are colonies of microorganisms that grow attached to rocks and other surfaces in the sea. Under close observation, they appear to be formed by interconnected chambers, resembling a honeycomb.They have been documented in areas such as Perumakkallu, Mullur, Vizhinjam, and Kovalam. They grow on substrates ranging from mollusk shells to discarded debris, though their presence on laterite rock formations is minimal.
