ഉപരിതല ഞണ്ടുകൾ (uparithala njandukal ) / log crabs
കടലിന്റെ ഉപരിതലത്തിലൂടെ ഒഴുകി നടക്കുന്ന തടികളെയും മറ്റു പാഴ് വസ്തുക്കളെയും FML ന്റെ കടൽ യാത്രകളിൽ സ്ഥിരം കാണാറുണ്ട്. ഒപ്പം അവയോട് ചേർന്ന് കടലിന്റെ ഉപരിതലത്തിൽ തന്നെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു ജീവിക്കുന്ന ചില ജീവികളും. നിസ്സാരമെന്ന് തോന്നാമെങ്കിലും ഇവയ്ക്കെല്ലാം എഫ് എം എല്ലിന്റെ കടൽ ജൈവവൈവിധ്യ നിരീക്ഷണങ്ങളിൽ പ്രത്യേക ഇടം ഉള്ളതാണ്.
ഇത്തരത്തിൽ നിരീക്ഷിച്ച ജീവികളിൽ മത്സ്യങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം ചിലയിനം ഞണ്ടുകളെയും സ്ഥിരമായി കാണാം. അതിനെയാണ് ഞങ്ങൾ ഉപരിതല ഞണ്ടുകൾ എന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നത്. അത്തരം ചില ഞണ്ടുകളെ ഇവിടെ പരിചയപ്പെടാം.

Surface Crabs / Log Crabs

During FML’s sea voyages, we frequently encounter logs and other debris drifting along the ocean surface, often accompanied by various organisms that live and travel right there on the surface alongside them. Although they might seem insignificant, these creatures hold a special place in FML’s observations of marine biodiversity.Among the organisms observed in this manner, certain types of crabs are regularly spotted alongside fish juveniles. These are what we refer to as "surface crabs." Let us take a look at some of these crabs here.
