മാലാവ് or കണമ്പ്

തീരത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും അടുത്ത് കാണുന്ന ഒരിനം മത്സ്യം. തീരക്കടൽ പാറപ്പാരുകൾ ഉള്ളിടത്തും അല്ലാത്തിടത്തും ഇവയെ കാണാം. ഇര എടുക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇവയുടെ ചുണ്ടുകൾ പുറത്തേക്ക് തള്ളി വരുന്നത് കാണാൻ രസമാണ്. അതുപോലെതന്നെ ചിലപ്പോൾ ഇവ കടലിന്റെ ഉപരിതലത്തിൽ വന്ന് വായ് തുറന്നു കിടക്കുന്നതും കാണാം. മാലാവുകൾ കടലിലും കായലുകളിലും കാണപ്പെടുന്ന അപൂർവയിനം മത്സ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. ഇവ ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത് കാണാറില്ല.ചെറു കൂട്ടമായാണ് ഇര തേടിയുള്ള യാത്ര. മാലാവുകളുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ മറ്റു മത്സ്യങ്ങൾക്കില്ലാത്ത ഒരു അവയവം കാണാം. അവയുടെ തൊണ്ടയോട് ചേർന്നാണിത്.

Malavu or Kanambu

A type of fish found very close to the shore. They inhabit coastal waters, frequenting areas with rocky reefs as well as those without. It is fascinating to watch their lips protrude outward when they seize their prey. Occasionally, they can also be seen surfacing with their mouths held open. The Malavu is a unique species of fish found in both the sea and backwaters. They are rarely seen swimming alone; instead, they forage for food in small shoals. They possess a distinctive organ not found in other fish located near the throat.
