മുരൽ

മുരൽ എന്ന പേരോടുകൂടിയ ഒരുപിടി മത്സ്യങ്ങൾ കടലിൽ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും കോസ്റ്റൽ കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റിയുടെ ഇടയിൽ മുരൽ എന്ന് പ്രത്യേകമായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന മത്സ്യം ആണിത്. മീൻ മുരൽ എന്നും വിളിക്കാറുണ്ട്. മുൻകാലങ്ങളിൽ തട്ടുമടിയിൽ ഇവ ധാരാളം ലഭിക്കുമായിരുന്നു. തീരക്കടൽ മത്സ്യം ആണിത്. ഉണക്കി കരുവാടാക്കി സൂക്ഷിക്കാനും പറ്റിയ മത്സ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്ന്.കടൽത്തീര സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ പാചക കലയിൽ മുരലിന്റെ കറിക്കൂട്ട് സാധാരണ മത്സ്യങ്ങളുടേത് പോലെയല്ല.മുരക്കരുവാട് ( ഉണക്കിയ മുരൽ )ചേർത്ത് തീയൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതും പതിവാണ്.ഇപ്പോൾ ഈ ഇനം മത്സ്യത്തിന്റെ ലഭ്യത തീരെ കുറഞ്ഞു.

Mural

Although there are several fish species known as 'Mural' in the sea, this is the specific fish recognized by that name within coastal communities. It is also simply referred to as 'Meen Mural'. In the past, it used to be caught in large quantities using "Thattumadi" (a type of traditional boat-based net). It is a coastal fish and is also excellent for drying and preserving as "Karuvadu"(dried fish).The culinary preparation of Mural in coastal communities differs from that of ordinary fish.It is also common to prepare "Theeyal"(a traditional curry) using "Mural Karuvadu"(dried Mural). However, the availability of this fish species has now significantly declined.
