മണൽ വ്ളാങ്കുകൾ
ഇവ മണലിൽ പുതഞ്ഞു ജീവിക്കുകയും ഇരപിടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവയാണെന്ന് കരുതാം. കടലിനടിയിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയ നിരവധി യാത്രകളിൽ ഒന്നിൽപോലും ഇവയെ കാണാനായില്ല. ചിലപ്പോൾ പ്രതികൂല സാഹചര്യം മനസ്സിലാക്കി അവ മണ്ണിൽ പുതയുന്നുണ്ടാവാം.എന്നാൽ കമ്പവലകളിൽ ഇവ ലഭിക്കാറുണ്ട്. അങ്ങനെ ലഭിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവയെ എടുത്തു പുറത്തേക്കിട്ടാൽ നമ്മുടെ കണ്മുൻപിൽ കടപ്പുറത്തെ മണലിൽ വാല് കൊണ്ട് കുത്തി പുതയുന്നത് കാണാം. കാഴ്ച്ചയിൽ കടൽപാമ്പുപോലെ തോന്നുമെങ്കിലും ഇവയുടെ വാല് കൂർത്തതാണ്.

Sand Eels

It is believed that these creatures live and hunt while buried in the sand. We did not spot them during any of our numerous underwater expeditions. They likely bury themselves in the sand when they sense unfavorable conditions. However, they are often caught in seine nets. When one is taken out and placed on the beach, you can watch it burrow into the sand right before your eyes by driving its tail downwards. Although they resemble sea snakes in appearance, they have pointed tails.
