നഗരകൾ
കീഴ്ത്താടിയോട് ചേർന്ന് മീശ പോലുള്ള രണ്ട് അവയവങ്ങൾ (ബാർബൽസ് )ഇവയ്ക്കുണ്ട്.
അതുപയോഗിച്ച് മണ്ണിനടിയിൽ പുതഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന ഇരകളെ ചികഞ്ഞ് എടുക്കുന്നതായി കാണാം. തീരക്കടൽ പാരുകളുടെ അടിത്തട്ടിലും മുകൾത്തട്ടിലും ചിലയിനം നഗരകൾ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചെറുകൂട്ടങ്ങൾ ആയാണ് ഇവയുടെ യാത്ര.

മുൻകാലങ്ങളിൽ പാരുകൾ ഇല്ലാത്ത ഇടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും ചിലയിനം നഗരകൾ ധാരാളം ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. തട്ടുമടികളിലും വലകളിലും ഇവ അക്കാലത്ത് ആവശ്യത്തിന് കിട്ടുമായിരുന്നു.
എന്നാൽ ഇന്ന് ഏതാണ്ട് ഇവ അപ്രത്യക്ഷമായ നിലയിലാണ്.
എല്ലാ നഗരങ്ങളും ഭക്ഷ്യയോഗ്യമാണ്.
NAGARAKAL
They have two moustache-like organs (barbels) attached to the lower jaw.
They are used to pick up prey by borrowing underground. Some varieties of Nagaras are seen travelling on the bottom or on top surface of coastal reefs. They travel in small groups.
At the same time, in the past, some varieties of Nagaras were abundantly caught from places where reefs were not available. They were sumptuously caught in Thattumadi and in nets at that time.
But at present they have almost disappeared.
