കടൽച്ചെടികൾ / കടൽ വിശറികൾ ( Kadalchedikal / Kadal visharikal ) Gorgoneion Sea fans
കാഴ്ചയിൽ ചെടികളുടെ രൂപസാദൃശ്യം ഉള്ള വിവിധ ജന്തുക്കൾ FML ന്റെ കടലടിത്തട്ട് ഡോക്യൂമെന്റേഷനിൽ പകർത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
കടൽപണിക്കാർ കടലടിത്തട്ടിൽ വിടുന്ന വലകളിൽ ഇവ അപൂർവ്വമായി ലഭിക്കാറുമുണ്ട്. ഇവയെല്ലാം കടൽ ചെടികൾ എന്നാണ് കടൽ പണിക്കാർ കരുതുന്നതും പറയുന്നതും. തുടരന്വേഷണത്തിൽ ഇവ ഗോർഗോണിയൻ സീ ഫാൻസ്, ബ്ലാക്ക് കോറൽ, സീ വിപ്സ് എന്നീ ഇനങ്ങളിൽപ്പെട്ട ജന്തുക്കൾ ആണെന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിയാനായി.
ഈ ജന്തുക്കളെല്ലാം കടലിനടിത്തട്ടിലോ കടലിൽ മുങ്ങിത്താഴ്ന്ന ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു വസ്തുവിലോ ഉറച്ച് കാഴ്ചയിൽ തറയിൽ വേരുറച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്ന ചെടികളെപ്പോലെ തോന്നിക്കുന്ന ജന്തുക്കളാണ് .
ഇതിൽ കടൽ വിശറികളിൽ ഒരിനം ചിപ്പിയും ചിലയിനം ബ്രിട്ടൽ സ്റ്റാറുകളും കടൽ വിശറികളുമായി പരസ്പരം സഹവസിക്കുന്നതായി കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
Black കോറലുകളിൽ ഇതുപോലെ ചില ഇനം ഞണ്ടുകളെയും shrimp കളെയുമാണ് കണ്ടതെങ്കിൽ Sea Wipe കൾ feather സ്റ്റാറുകളുമായി ചേർന്ന് ജീവിക്കുന്ന മനോഹര കാഴ്ചകൾ ക്യാമറയിൽ പകർത്താനായി.
വർക്കലയിലെ വിവിധ പാരുകളിൽ നിന്നും അഞ്ചുതെങ്ങ് കപ്പൽ പാരിൽ നിന്നും എഫ് എം എൽ ഇത്തരം ജീവികളുടെ ഡോക്യൂമെന്റെഷൻ നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
നമ്മുടെ കടലടിത്തറയുടെ പ്രത്യേകത കണക്കിലെടുക്കുമ്പോൾ ഈ വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽപെടുന്ന ജീവികൾ ധാരാളം ഉള്ളത് കന്യാകുമാരി ജില്ലയിലെ കടൽ അടിത്തട്ടിലും കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ വെട്ടുകൽ പാരുകളിലും പിന്നെ തറപ്പാരുകൾ എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്ന പ്രത്യേക ജൈവ മേഖലകളിലും ആണെന്ന് കരുതാം.

Sea plants / Sea fans (Gorgonian sea fans)

Various animals resembling plants in appearance have been captured during FML's documentation of the seabed.These are occasionally found in the nets cast by fishermen on the seabed. Fishermen generally perceive and refer to them as "sea plants." Further investigation revealed them to be animals belonging to groups such as Gorgonian sea fans, black corals, and sea whips.These animals anchor themselves to the seabed or to submerged objects, appearing much like plants rooted in the ground.Among the sea fans, specific types of bivalves and brittle stars have been observed living in association with them.While certain species of crabs and shrimp were observed on black corals, the camera also captured the beautiful sight of sea whips living alongside feather stars.FML has documented these organisms at various rocky reefs (paars) in Varkala, the Anchuthengu ship reef, and other locations.Given the characteristics of our seabed, it is believed that these organisms are abundant on the seabed off Kanyakumari district, the rocky reefs of Kollam district, and in specific biological zones known as Tharappaar.
