കടൽ പരവതാനികൾ ( Kadal paravathaanikal ) - zoanthids
തീരത്തോട് ചേർന്ന് കടൽത്തറയിലെ പാറകളിൽ പറ്റി പടർന്നു വളരുന്ന ജീവിയാണ് കടൽ പരവതാനി.
തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിൽ കോവളത്ത് മാത്രമേ ഇവയെ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളൂ. കാഴ്ചയിൽ പാറമുകളിൽ കാർപെറ്റ് വിരിച്ചതുപോലെ തോന്നിക്കും. തുടരന്വേഷണത്തിൽ Zoanthids എന്ന ഇനത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ജീവിയാണെന്ന് മനസ്സിലായി .
കടൽ പരവതാനികൾ കോറലുകളുടെ ഗണത്തിൽ പെടുന്നവ ആയതിനാൽ സംരക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ട ജീവിയാണ്.

Sea Carpets (Zoanthids)

The 'sea carpet' is an organism that grows by clinging to and spreading across rocky surfaces on the seabed near the shore.In Thiruvananthapuram district, they have been observed only at Kovalam. In appearance, they resemble a carpet spread over the rocks. Further investigation revealed that they belong to the group known as Zoanthids.Since sea carpets belong to the coral family, they are organisms that require protection
