തത്തമ്മച്ചുണ്ടൻ

തത്തമ്മയുടേതു പോലുള്ള ചുണ്ടുകളുള്ള ഈ മത്സ്യങ്ങൾ പാറപ്പാരുകളിലെ സ്ഥിര സാന്നിധ്യമാണ്. ഒറ്റക്കോ ജോഡിയായോ ആണ് ഇവ സഞ്ചരിക്കുക. തീരത്തോട് ചേർന്ന പാരുകളിലാണ് കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് 15 മീറ്റർ ആഴമുള്ള കടലിൽ വരെ ഇവയെ എഫ് എം എൽ ഡോക്കുമെന്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. തത്തമ്മച്ചുണ്ടൻ മത്സ്യങ്ങളെ കാണാൻ നല്ല ഭംഗിയാണെങ്കിലും അവയുടെ മാംസം കല്ലുപോലെ ഉള്ളതും രുചികരമല്ലാത്തതുമാണ്.

Parrotfish

 These fish, characterized by beaks resembling those of a parrot, are a common sight on rocky reefs. They travel either singly or in pairs and are typically found on reefs close to the shore. FML has documented their presence in waters up to 15 meters deep off the coast of Thiruvananthapuram. Although parrotfish are visually striking, their flesh is tough almost rock-hard and unpalatable.
