തൊപ്പി ശംഖ്‌ ( Thoppi shankhu) / Limpets
തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് മുല്ലൂരിലെ കടലിനോട് ചേർന്നുള്ള പാറകളിലും കോവളത്തെ പാറക്കെട്ടുകളിലും വിഴിഞ്ഞം കോടിയോട് ചേർന്നുള്ള കടലിലെ പാറകളിലും ഇവയെ കാണാം. തൊപ്പി പോലുള്ള കട്ടിയുള്ള ഒരു ചെറിയ പാളി പാറയിൽ ഉറച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതായി തോന്നുമെങ്കിലും ഇവ അടർത്തി എടുത്താൽ അതിനുള്ളിൽ മാംസം ഉണ്ടെന്നു മനസ്സിലാകും. ഭക്ഷ്യ ആവശ്യത്തിനായി ഇത് ഉപയോഗിക്കാറില്ല.

These can be found attached to rocks along the coast, including the rocky shores of Mullur in Thiruvananthapuram, the rocky areas of Kovalam, and the rocks in the sea near Vizhinjam Kodi.

At first glance, they appear to be small, thick, cap-shaped shells firmly attached to the rocks. However, when carefully detached from the rock, the soft body (flesh) inside the shell becomes visible.

They are not commonly used as food.
